The Wedding Photography Scriptures
By Eliot Siegel
Photographing a wedding is no small achievement. Patience and a sharp understanding of how the story evolves, combined with years of knowledge, experience and the ability to work spontaneously contributes to a successful visual experience. My approach to wedding photography is based on the concept of the 'decisive moment', coined by the iconic fine art photographer, Henri Cartier Bresson. For me, it means being in the right place at the right time, anticipating the special moments before they are lost.
The ability to work under pressure is very important to any photographer, and I spent many years of my life travelling the world shooting for Fashion magazines like Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Gentleman's Quarterly. This invaluable experience has given me the ability to access situations in a split moment and be able to act quickly, not losing any image I would deem precious.
After all the planning, preparation and expense; your venue, the church, your gown and flowers, all your family and friends together in a once in your lifetime experience, who are you prepared to trust your wedding memories to?
